GLINK FOR WINDOWS VERSIONS

Supported Windows Releases

For a history of Glink and Windows versions see
Glink & Windows history

Glink for Windows, Enterprise Edition was introduced in parallel with the Professional edition. The enterprise Edition is the server side version of Glink, licensed by number of simultaneous sessions. The first fully functional release, including controlled licensing by simultaneous sessions, GlinkWeb, and web controlled Glink workstation installations was R7.2 in November 2003. The Enterprise Edition and Professional Edition are developed and released in parallel. They are native 32bit applications, well suited to the 32bit Windows environment, and are the platform for all future Glink development. As Microsoft releases new versions of Windows, new updates or releases of Glink Enterprise and Professional Edition will be qualified for the new Windows platforms.

Glink for Windows, Professional Edition was first released for Windows 95, NT4, 98, 98SE, 2000 and ME in December 2000. The Professional Edition is the workstation version of Glink, licensed by number of seats.

Glink for Windows, Standard Edition was first released for Windows 3.1 in July 1992. It runs on any hardware that can run Windows 3.1 and upwards as far as Windows ME, released by MS in July 2000. The Standard Edition is in maintenance status, and will not be updated for qualification with Windows XP or newer versions of Windows.

Glink for Macintosh runs on any Macintosh system that can run System 7.x. Glink for Macintosh is discontinued, and has been replaced in the G&R product range by Glink for Java™. See Glink for Java™

Glink for DOS runs on any PC or compatible running under DOS 2.10 and upwards. Today that generally means emulated DOS platforms under Windows. Glink for DOS is in maintenance status, and although we update it as far as possible for our existing users with service agreements we do not add new functionality. Microsoft terminated support for MS DOS in December 2001.
