IBM EMULATION |
For the IBM environment Glink provides full SAA-compliant IBM 3270 emulation with GDDM graphics, using TN3270 or TN3270E over TCP/IP to connect to the standard TN3270 support on IBM mainframes or to TN3270/SNA gateways. You don't need to work with the IBM black screen. The Glink Professional SAA-compliant IBM3270 emulation can be configured with the Glink Professional Look and Feel, including 3D variable fields. It can also use Glink's ability to convert text fields such as PFnn into on-screen buttons that transmit PF sequences to the host if clicked.

The Glink IBM 3270 emulation supports graphics. When Glink is configured as any extended model (e.g. 3278-2E) then a graphical application will query Glink for its graphical capability, and Glink will identify itself as having the graphics capability of a 3179G graphics workstation. The Glink IBM 3270 emulation supports graphics, used in various ways. The built-in alternate character set can be used to display line graphics. Glink supports the extra character set, and draws line graphics correctly.

The most advanced applications use vector graphics. Glink Professional supplies all the commands needed to produce 3179G graphics including use of 16 colors, text output, line drawing, shapes with fill effects and predefined markers. This enables Glink to display screens containing elaborate graphic images. Glink supports all graphics cursors. This allows the mainframe to create dropdown "Windows style" menus at the top of the 3270 screen and "clickable" buttons inside graphics images.

Glink has also IBM 5250 emulation connecting via TN5250 to the AS400. The Glink IBM 5250 emulation can also be enhanced using the Glink Look and Feel. Here the traditional IBM black screen has been enhanced using the Glink 3D effect for variable fields. A green background has been chosen for the status line, to enhance status line messages.
Glink can be used to run all normal data processing applications on an AS400 system.
