North Rhine-Westphalias (NWR) Tax Authorities
For years, the data center for North Rhine-Westphalia’s (NWR) Tax Authorities has used a terminal server environment for distributing tax programs to its dispersed user base. With 550 servers comprising its IT environment, stability and reliability are critical for success. However, the security provided by its existing environment did not prevent employees from installing “smuggled-in” computer games or outdated user programs, causing servers to crash on a regular basis. Therefore, the data center is in the process of migrating NWR to a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server environment to take advantage of its enhanced security and management features. As the company prepares to roll out the solution to agency offices, it anticipates a future system that is easy to maintain and void of system failures. more info
